MI CASA EN LA PALMA invites you to discover:
Ready to embrace country life in La Palma's wild north?
A Canarian house with soul, fertile land and sweeping Atlantic views
High above La Palma's wild northern coast, in the peaceful village of Franceses, a place awaits where time seems to move a little more slowly.
The white-and-green house reflects traditional Canarian country life, with warm Canary pine floorboards, windows open to the sea and a garden where oranges, lemons, almonds and many new ideas can grow.
A special home for those who value authenticity and want to create a retreat of their own on La Palma, step by step and with plenty of space for what truly matters to them.
A house shaped by family life
The current owners' grandparents originally built this house as a summer home. Later, an aunt lived here permanently. The retreat became a true home: simple, practical and deeply connected to its setting.
Much of its original Canarian character remains: whitewashed walls, vivid green doors and shutters, broad floorboards made from local Canary pine and a sequence of rooms that recalls a simple rural way of life. The house requires renovation, but it already has a kitchen, bathroom and clearly usable rooms. Subject to personal requirements and professional assessment, the work can therefore be approached step by step.

White, green and the warmth of Canary pine
The rooms feel bright and pleasantly manageable. Three bedrooms and an additional room, suitable for use as a study, guest room or reading room, are arranged around the hallway. Different floor finishes reflect different periods of use; the broad Canary pine floorboards in several rooms are particularly attractive.
The green wooden doors and shutters add bold touches of colour against the white walls. These preserved details give the house its personality and provide an excellent basis for a renovation that retains its Canarian character while adding modern comfort.
Kitchen, bathroom and direct access to the garden
The separate kitchen is already arranged as a kitchen-diner, with a work area, storage and space for a dining table. Its direct connection to the outdoors is especially appealing. A door leads to the garden, with a small terrace and traditional wash basin, ideal for growing herbs and vegetables just outside the kitchen or creating a sheltered breakfast spot.
There is also a bathroom. The house will be handed over with the existing contents; only personal belongings and family photographs will be removed. Much of what may be useful at the outset will therefore remain while the rooms are gradually reorganised and renovated.
Plenty of room for tools, projects and supplies
The lower part of the building contains a separate, generously sized workshop and storage area. Its exposed timber-beam ceiling and robust character make it suitable for practical work, garden tools, harvest crates or a well-organised store. This useful space adds an especially valuable facility to a home with such a large plot.
3,536 m² of fertile garden land
Much of the large plot has now been reclaimed by lush vegetation. Once cleared and organised, it offers excellent conditions for a varied self-sufficient garden, with vegetable beds, herbs, additional fruit trees, composting areas and, in keeping with the rural setting, space for keeping chickens.
Orange, lemon, loquat and almond trees and grapevines are already established. Oleander, bird-of-paradise plants, climbing roses, dragon trees, monstera, palms and prickly pears also grow here. This variety shows what flourishes in the mild climate and already gives the land an almost enchanted atmosphere.
Between the Atlantic and green mountain slopes
Franceses is one of the quiet, unspoilt villages in northern La Palma. The house stands at an elevation of around 400 metres in a rural setting, with sweeping views across the coast and the wild Atlantic. Green slopes rise behind the house, while the landscape opens towards the sea in front.
The accessible roof terrace offers particular potential. With suitable seating, it could become a wonderful place for the first coffee of the day, quiet hours above the sea or views towards the mountains. The Atlantic is also a constant presence from several windows and outdoor areas.
Peaceful living with good connections
Barlovento, with its supermarket, shops, cafés and restaurants, is around 15 minutes away by car. To the west, the northern road continues to Santo Domingo de Garafía, the municipality's principal town.
The public road reaches the house, and there is space to park one vehicle directly beside it.
The property therefore combines a very peaceful residential setting with everyday amenities within easy reach.
A house for those who value authenticity
This house is intended for people who appreciate the value of a place shaped over time: keen gardeners and those interested in self-sufficient living, practical and creative people, couples or families who wish to preserve its Canarian character and develop it further with ideas of their own.
The existing layout, kitchen and bathroom provide a practical starting point. At the same time, the large garden, workshop, terraces and Atlantic views offer ample scope for a long-term project, developed step by step and at one's own pace.
Our conclusion
This house reflects the character of Franceses: its white-and-green colours, old Canary pine, lush garden and the special tranquillity of the Canarian north. Open Atlantic views, terraces, the large workshop and generous space around the house add to its appeal.
The new owners can renovate the existing rooms gradually, preserve the original details and develop the house in their own personal way. Vegetables, herbs and fruit can flourish again in the garden, with room for chickens and sheltered seating areas. The roof terrace also offers space to create a favourite spot overlooking the sea and mountains.
Here, a home can take shape once again that belongs in Franceses: peaceful, close to nature, individual and with plenty of room for life on La Palma.
